Who we are

The Argyll Beaver Centre is run by the Heart of Argyll Wildlife Organisation (HAWO), an independent Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) founded in 2016.

We aim to promote the conservation and enjoyment of our local wildlife and the habitats in which it can be found.

We do this through public engagement at our off-grid, sustainable visitor centre, with guided walks, events and via talks and education session with schools and community groups of all ages.

We rely on funding and public donations along with income from our events and guided walks, membership fees and shop sales.

We are very grateful to the following for our current funding:

A'Chruach Wind Farm Community Fund (Foundation Scotland)

Vegware Community Fund

The Scottish Land Fund - National Lottery Community Fund

Highlands and Islands Environment Foundation

The Chocolate Tree (1 Percent for the Planet)

The Craignish Trust
Ashfield Trust
Martin Wills Fund
Force for Good
Hugh Fraser Foundation
Swire Charitable Trust
The Beaver Trust

How to find us

Argyll Beaver Centre
Follow B841 through Cairnbaan along the Crinan Canal to Bellanoch, turn left onto B8025 signed Tayvallich (you will see a red beaver sign here).  After 1.4km you will see a sign for ’visitor centre’, turn left down the forestry track signposted ’Wildlife Visitor Centre’.  Our car park is 600 metres along this track.

3D Map of Knapdale

View our 3D map of the area to explore and help plan your visit.  The map shows visitor facilities, walks and the main areas of beaver activity.
This is a work in progress and we will add information to it when we can. Please let us know if there is anything that you would like to see added to the map.
